Koinonein when first run will show you the First Run Wizard that lets you set the basic options before using Koinonein.
You can run the First Run Wizard again at any time from Settings > Client Options > First Run Wizard and if you choose to do this Koinonein will reset itself to the default settings then show you the First Run Wizard.
Occasionally when upgrading Koinonein you may be shown the First Run Wizard again and that will be due to new features requiring a database upgrade.
This allows you to set what language Koinonein will use.
You can find out how to translate Koinonein here.
You can register at Koinonein.com from here, registration gives you access to the support forums.
Use the distributed tracker service (DHT)
If checked Koinonein will be able to use trackerless torrents.
You can read more about DHT here.
Use the Local Service Discovery service (LSD)
Provides a SSDP like mechanism to announce the presence in specific swarms to local neighbours.
You can read more about LSD here.
Use the Network Address Translation Port Mapping Protocol (NAT PMP)
When checked the listen port and the DHT port are attempted to be forwarded on the router through NAT-PMP.
Use Universal Plug And Play (UPNP)
When checked the listen port and the DHT port are attempted to be forwarded on local UPnP router devices.
Default BitTorrent Client
Let me know if this is not the default BitTorrent Client when checked will show a dialog each time you start Koinonein provided Koinonein is not the default application for .torrent files and magnet links.
If you click Yes in this dialog then Koinonein gets set as the default application for .torrent files and magnet links and that means when you download any .torrent file or double click on any .torrent file or click on a magnet link on any website Koinonein will open the corresponding link or file.
Set as the default BitTorrent client will set Koinonein as the default application for .torrent files files and magnet links. If this option is disabled then that means Koinonein is already set as the default application.
Deleting the torrents downloaded data.
Deleting Web Seeds.
If you check any of these options you’ll be shown a delete conformation dialog.
This is the default folder where all your downloads will be saved to and seeded from.
This folder can be overridden on a per torrent basis, to change the folder for an individual torrent do one of the following:
Right click the torrent and select Directory > Change Directory.
Select the torrent then click the Directory button then the Change Directory button.
Select the torrent then select the Info Tab then at the bottom click Change Directory button.
Move Completed Downloads To
If you select a folder here then when a torrent finishes downloading it will be moved to the specified folder then the torrent will stop if Auto Stop is active or the torrent will continue to seed if not.
Store .koinonein Files In
This is the location to store .koinonein files.
Koinonein once it has loaded a .torrent file does not use the .torrent file again instead it creates a .koinonein file for resuming the torrent and this file contains all the information from the .torrent file.
.koinonein files are saved as the torrent hash plus the .koinonein extension for example:
As the original .torrent file is not saved when you select the Info Tab and then click the Get Torrent File button you are getting a new .torrent file that has the same info hash as the original but it contains the Trackers and Web Seeds that you have chosen to add or keep.
Koinonein uses two ports, one standard port and one SSL port.
You can select your own port numbers and they will be used each time Koinonein starts or you can select a random port or have Windows pick the free ports for you.
If you need to change the ports you can do so by setting the port numbers then click Change.
If Auto Start is checked whenever you add a torrent file or magnet link the torrent will begin downloading and you won’t be shown the Add New Torrent dialog.
If Auto Stop is checked then whenever a torrent is 100% complete it will stop itself.
You can see if Auto Start and Auto Stop are on or off by looking at the play and stop buttons on the status bar.
Auto Start Off.
Auto Start On.
Auto Stop Off.
Auto Stop On.
Automatically check for updates if checked will make Koinonein check if it’s the latest version a few minutes after first starting then every 12 hours.
If automatically download updates is checked then Koinonein will add the new version torrent to your list of torrents.
This is the last page of the First Run Wizard and from here you select the desktop mode or tablet mode.
